With over 30 years of experience doing interventions, our approach to working with families is immersed in the “why” we do what we do. We know what it’s like to be in the grip of addiction and to come out the other side. It is with grace that we have been given the gift of recovery, and our passion is to share it. Lumen Intervention Service Recovery Group is focused on individuals and families suffering from addiction, with the goal of helping people move into healing and realizing their full potential. We are family-centered, collaborative, compassionate, and provide solutions that are tailored to each unique situation. We’re not a cookie-cutter operation that uses one methodology. Our years of experience and training give us the ability to intuitively know how to handle difficult situations and provide treatment plans based on individual needs. We take the word “integrity” seriously and take great pride in being responsive and reliable. We’re the calm in the storm, and our goal is to be a trusted partner for families. Addiction affects the whole family and support system, which is why we look at everyone involved, including the family system, generational issues, relationships, and much more. We aim to break the chain of dysfunction so the healing can start now and impact generations to come.
The traditional belief about working with addicts was that you can’t help someone unless they want help. While we do believe in the gift of desperation, the above statement would imply we have absolutely no influence to help the suffering addict. Part of what we do in the intervention process is raise the person’s bottom floor. We like to say “addiction is like an elevator going down, you can get off at any floor”. Not only for the individual, but for the family as well. In the spirit of the family systemic model, one could say, ”you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink”. The systemic interventionist would say, “yes that’s true, but we can make him really thirsty”. This approach emphasizes the family system; change is an opportunity for all to get into recovery.
Comprehensive interventions include all aspects of the intervention process. Our trained and certified professional interventionists will educate, lead and facilitate the intervention process, allowing the family to feel supported the entire way. During the intervention, our experienced team will assist the family by performing a treatment assessment, providing options for types of treatment, transporting the person to the treatment center and offering continued family support upon admission into treatment.
A coached intervention is where our team supports a family that wants to do an intervention, but without an interventionist present and at a cost savings. The coached intervention process would be appropriate for a family that is motivated and has some experience or understanding of family systems. Lumen Intervention’s Recovery would provide the initial assessment and give treatment options for the person of concern, and the interventionist would prepare and coach the family through the intervention, but would not be physically present at the intervention.
Our intervention team can be hired by a family or individual on an hourly or limited basis to provide strategy, assessment, and guidance prior to an intervention or at any point where there’s a need for a professional to be involved.
COVID-19 response: Lumen Intervention Service is committed to providing our families and individuals with the safest, most responsive care in supporting people with addiction. Our team is available with resources to help you and your family during this pandemic. Since the onset of the COVID-19 crisis, those who provide addiction treatment and recovery services have needed to make rapid changes in the delivery of our services. The behavioral health field has swiftly adapted to maximize services through telehealth. In the midst of this worldwide pandemic and stay-at-home order, Lumen Intervention Service realizes how critical the need is to provide connection with people who suffer from the isolating disease of addiction.
Staying safe and healthy is an important part of recovery. We are all in uncharted waters, and part of being good stewards of providing behavioral health services is making the safety and health of our clients a top priority. We have expanded our already robust online services to offer increased sensitivity in helping families during these trying times. At Lumen Intervention Services, we realize families will have increased anxiety, fear and doubts due to the nature of what is currently going on. In staying true to our mission of meeting families where they are at, we are pleased to offer increased online communication and support to all of our clients.
Lumen Intervention’s Recovery provides intervention services for different types of addictions, mental health issues, and the many different types of people who suffer. Our services cater to the individual, including executives, adolescents, students, LGBTQ individuals, and more.
Lumen Intervention’s Recovery is an independent organization and is not connected or affiliated with any treatment providers. We provide treatment consultation and placement to families to help them navigate their options. Treatment assessment and placement are provided as part of our intervention services or as a standalone service. We take many factors into consideration when offering our treatment recommendations and strive to find a good match between the individual and the treatment facility. While this is a collaborative process, the family ultimately makes the final choice of which treatment facility is the best fit.
